The year of 2009 is winding down and the New Year is upon us. This is the time for reflection upon the past year with the attitude of learning from all past experiences and recognizing our accomplishments. To progress in golf and life it is imperative to know what you want to attain. The most effective method for goal achievement involves an approach that includes several aspects.

First, and most importantly each person must be honest with themselves when setting their goals. A goal that is unreachable can cause a loss of interest and a decline in confidence. A goal that is easily attained can cause a loss of motivation and hinders striving to reach your full potential. Finding the ideal goal will create a strong intention for optimum achievement of the objective.

Once you have the perfect objective in mind open your imagination to all the possibilities of how to obtain the desired result. For example, if you have the goal of improving your golf swing to shoot a certain score spend a portion of your leisure time visualizing the ideal golf swing while executing the shots necessary to post the target score. The more mental game practice the better the chances for success.

Choosing the right goal and mentally practicing are a big part of goal achievement. Action is what brings about results in the physical universe. It is helpful to chunk down the goal into bite size steps. Pick the most important next step to work on each day.

This golf exercise can be applied to any area of life; fitness, financial, family, spiritual, mental, and physical. Remember to practice efficiently and have balance in life. A balanced life brings happiness and reduces stress that can be created from areas that are neglected. If all actions are positively advancing you toward the envisioned final outcome then you will flourish in your endeavors.
